Employment opportunities at Doe Bay

*"Ubi amatur, non laboratur, si amoratur, labor amatur" - loosely translated as:

"Where there is love, there is no labor, for the labor itself is love"

* This is written from my recollection of my father quoting this to me in Latin, before most of you were born. (Kennedy was President.) I apologize to any Latin scholars and to my Latin teacher, Father Menard (RIP) for the errors which I am certain are there. JOE Brotherton.

If you are ready for a season of hard work on a great team in an absurdly beautiful environment, we'd love for you to join us at Doe Bay! We're a 35-acre piece of bliss on Orcas Island that will make you happy to stay a season and keen to return for another or even stay through the year! Recruiting for the summer begins in early spring.

We give priority to people who are capable of staying from mid-May through September (or at least Labor Day). Most positions are seasonal, but we’re always happy to consider people through the off-season depending on the fit and level of need.

Entry positions begin at $9.32/hr. Employees will have free access to the soaking tubs/sauna, discounts at the Café, General Store, Yoga, Massage, and free kayaking with Shearwater Kayak Tours on a space available basis. Employees can volunteer in our incredible garden and also have use of a private access trail into Moran State Park for hiking. Working at Doe Bay is a chance to be part of a superstar-fun community.

Housing is available for a nominal fee. There is platform tent camping available for most of our summer staff and a limited number of dorm-style housing slots, starting at $200 (tents) to $400 (dorm) for the summer, with the potential for housing fees to be refunded after completion of your work commitment as an employee in good standing. There are shower houses, a staff kitchen, free WiFi, and a staff lounge available for use.

All applicants should be legally authorized to work in the United States, 18 years or older, and look forward to a memorable summer.

The positions we are most likely to be hiring for are experienced line cooks and exceptional servers, a stellar housekeeping crew, and incredibly fantastic folks for the front desk. Rarely do paid positions open up for the maintenance department or our on-site garden, however you could consider volunteer work at Doe Bay if gardening is your passion!
