If you are ready for a season of hard work on a great team in an absurdly beautiful environment, we’d love for you to join us at Doe Bay! We’re a 38-acre piece of bliss on Orcas Island that will make you happy to stay a season and keen to return for another or even stay through the year! Recruiting for the summer begins in early spring. Our staffing needs slim down after the summer season ends, however we do hire year round for the following departments:
- Cafe BOH
- Cafe FOH
- Front Desk Customer Service
We give priority to people who are capable of staying from mid-May through September (or at least Labor Day) and who have experience in the lodging/restaurant industry. Most positions are seasonal, but we’re always happy to consider people through the off-season depending on the fit and level of need.
Entry level positions with onsite housing may start at minimum wage ($15.74/hr in the state of Washington in 2023). Hourly wage may increase with experience.
Employees receive discounts at the Café and General Store, enjoy limited access to the soaking tubs/sauna, and free kayaking with Shearwater Kayak Tours on a space available basis. Employees can also volunteer in our incredible garden in exchange for produce or eggs. Working at Doe Bay is a chance to be part of a superstar-fun community.
Housing is limited but available for a nominal fee. Platform tent camping is available free of charge, along with a limited number of dorm-style housing units ranging from $50-$200 per month. We also require a housing deposit of $100 (tents) to $200 (dorm), with the potential of a full refund after completion of your work commitment as an employee in good standing. There are shower houses, a staff kitchen, free WiFi, and a staff lounge available for use. Pets are NOT permitted in onsite staff housing.
All applicants should be legally authorized to work in the United States, 21 years or older, and look forward to a memorable summer. We are not sponsoring H2B Visas at this time.
