As the owners of Doe Bay Resort & Retreat, we are delighted and honored to share one of the most incredible places in the world, with you, our guests. Doe Bay has a long history with generations of guests. We have invested our time, resources and hearts in making it clean, safe, efficient and hospitable. We are as proud of our staff as we are of the property. We welcome you to Doe Bay and hope you love it as much as we do.

Please review the following resort and reservations policies. If you have any questions, please contact us. The Doe Bay Office is open from 9am-5pm every day. During busy times, the office does offer extended hours – call 360-376-2291 to ask for the current closing time.

A deposit of the first night’s stay is required in order to make a confirmed reservation.

We reserve the right to substitute a reserved space for another space in the same or better price category, or cancel any reservation and return a deposit in full if a conflict arises.

Nightly Minimum Guidelines

June – September:  5-night minimum on stays booked more than one month out from your arrival date, OR a 3-night minimum on stays booked less than a month out from your arrival date

October – May: 3-night minimum on stays booked more than one month out from your arrival date, OR a 2-night minimum on stays booked less than a month out from your arrival date

National Holidays: 4-night minimum on stays booked more than one month out from your arrival date, OR a 3-night minimum on stays booked less than a month out from your arrival date

With exception of a mooring buoy rental, single night stays are rarely considered and subject to a 10% fee.

Cancellation Policy

Doe Bay offers flexible change and cancellation options. If your check-in date is at least 7 days away, you can:

  • Reschedule your vacation dates
  • Let us hold your full deposit as a credit towards a future stay
  • Receive a refund on your deposit minus a 20% handling fee

If you choose to shorten your stay with less than 7 days prior notice, you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee for each of the dropped nights.

If cancelling less than 7 days prior to your arrival date, the above options will be available to you if we are able to rebook your accommodation or campsite, otherwise the full deposit will be retained.

Check In/Out

Check in time is 3pm, check out time is 11am. Guests who do not check out of their spaces by 11am may be charged either a $75 late fee or for another night’s stay.

If you will be arriving after our office is closed, no worries! We will hang a welcome packet outside the front office door for all guests who have not arrived by the close of office hours.

Quiet Hours

Please respect the other guests, our staff and neighbors, by maintaining quiet hours between 10pm and 8am.

Fire Safety

We do not allow open flames of any kind on the property other than the community fire ring, the barbecue pit by the Guest Kitchen, and propane cook stoves. NO campfires, candles or incense are allowed at the cabins or campsites. There are fire extinguishers located on the outside of each cabin. In the summer, if there is no burn ban in effect on the island, a fire may be built in our fire pit (supply your own firewood), keeping in mind quiet hours, 10pm-8am.

Bathrooms and Showers

Many cabins have full bathrooms. For guests without in-cabin facilities, shower houses and bathrooms are available on both the lower and upper grounds. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, there are also port-a-lets on the trail to the Point campsites.

Guest Kitchen

Our modest guest kitchen is available to all guests without kitchens in their spaces. Basic utensils and cookware are provided. Label any food you keep in the fridge with your name and departure date or housekeeping may throw it out. Please keep this space enjoyable for all our guests by cleaning everything you use before you leave, including the grill(s).

We understand how difficult it sometimes is to leave pets at home when you travel. We also know that pets can be hard on the property and may bother other guests.

We allow pets in campsites, yurts, domes, and a limited number of cabins, primarily in the Upper Field area surrounding Homestead Road. The cabins/spaces that DO allow pets are our Bunkhouse cabins, Double and Queen studio cabins, Rustic studio and garden cabins, Blakely cabin, as well as all yurts, domes, and campsites.

There is a $20/night pet fee each visit (for campsites, domes, and yurts, the fee is just $20 per length of stay, not per night) and guests agree to be responsible for any and all damages to the space or to complaints from other guests. Pets may not be left inappropriately unattended at any time in cars, cabins, or tied-up. They must be kept on-leash and scooped after at all times as well as reasonably quiet. Pets are not allowed in the Cafe, Spa area, Yoga Studio or Library.

Guests that choose to arrive to Doe Bay via their private boat may anchor at their own risk. Doe Bay does not have a public mooring buoy or dock. Call our front desk at 360-376-2291 to inquire about the use of one of two private mooring buoys that may be available.

Otter Cove is NOT deep enough for boats and is very tidal dependent. DO NOT enter Otter Cove with your vessel.
